The 6 Most Useful Greetings In Spanish

Buenos días – Good morning

Buenos días is the Spanish expression for Good Morning. This phrase is not limited to the start of a new day, it can also be used as a greeting throughout the day any time of the year.

Buenas tardes – Good afternoon

Buenas tardes is used to say “good afternoon”. Though it is often considered to be slightly less formal than Buenos días. It can also be used politely when saying goodbye in the afternoon.
A native Spanish speaker may modify Buenas tardes depending on their mood, such as by adding an exclamation point or by using a different kind of adjective to illustrate their feelings at the moment.

Buenas noches – Good evening

Buenas noches is the Spanish phrase for “good evening.” It is a greeting used when you enter a place in the late afternoon or evening, such as a restaurant.

It can be used to greet someone, inquire about their wellbeing, act as an acknowledgment of something that was said or done, indicate surprise or enthusiasm towards something, and guide the flow of conversation.
